WAVE! Its a Tachikoma

This WAVE Tachikoma figure has been mentioned in Shirow circles for quite a while, and finally it has been officially announced! ^_^ Release expected end of October 05.

Well, what's with the hype about this plastic scale model Tachikoma you ask? Its a fully movable Tachikoma- assembly by "snap-fit" method no superglue necessary (those familiar with Kotobukiya's ARTFX Star Wars statues would know how this works- I expect it to be the same). And of course a bonus cool 2nd Gig Motoko boosts the "Get!" factor. Last but not least the price at 1800Yen (pre-tax retail) is very very attractive.

sTwo points us to Rakuten Japan, which unfortunately sells Japan-only. So, hunting again ^_^... as usual, would appreciate any links to sources taking pre-orders for this Tachikoma. Thanks first if anyone can help~

C)SHIROW MASAMUNE/SEISHINSHA/M2　Supported by BANDAI NETWORKS

This is an announcement for an Appleseed Online RPG! Webplay, no software / startup disk necessary. This time the RPG project seems to be handled by developers called M2. Should be subscription based I think (not sure) but on the downside is its probably going to be in Japanese. Anyway, with the international appeal of Shirow and Appleseed, hopefully the developers would consider something for us English-literate fans? ^_^ Anyhow, great news... bookmark the website: Appleseed The Online. Who knows, there might be goodies once in a while. If Shirow plays a part in this game's development / art & design as he did with GN Japan's Orion previously, maybe we would see some new Appleseed art from Shirow Sensei himself! ^_^ More details if there's any progress.

Cool Girl Can we change the clothes?

Errr... yes, apparently there's this version of Motoko Kusanagi in Cool Girl:

Now the question is: is this a custom job or do I have to fork out another cool US$99 (shipping not included) for this OP version? Is it an option just to buy the clothes? I don't mind changing for Motoko from time to time :P Heh. Jokes aside, its time to hunt. Report any sightings in the comments or on the BBS ya? And let's hope the August deadline for Ninja Suit Ver. is on schedule at the same time~

Lucas' SEGA GITS Extra Figure Vol.2 Gallery

I still remember the first time I saw the prototype display for this figure set at SEGA Prize's website. Immediately a sense of desperation set in. Here she is, Aramaki Motoko, 22cm high- Masamune Shirow version! MUST get! ^_^ (I've been using this term too much these days!) And so, the pre-order goes in, waited 3 months, and finally~ in all their glory. Another quality GITS set from SEGA Prize, but this time it was less of a shock because I was expecting it to be good ^_^

In Shirow's Manmachine Interface, Motoko Aramaki operates through "decots" or more properly termed, decoy robots. The decot model we see here is our introduction to Motoko A. in Manmachine Interface where she cruises on a boat/yacht on the way to a secret meeting. She also has her "Cyber" appearences, her image in the virtual world which was represented by the other Motoko figure in this set.

Tank SWAT Update? What's Happening??

Ah! sTwo-san replied :D ~ looks like Tank SWAT has no release date yet, but he got a Sample DVD full of goodies from Tank SWAT's producer! (That's pretty neat!) For the full story click here to go to Shirowledge and read it from sTwo himself. The animation work for Tank SWAT 01 is completed, but official release date, we still have to wait... ^_^

I see new screenshots there, and a secret link to a new video?? I've downloaded it, seems like an introduction to Bonaparte and Newport Tank Police (Leona's team to be specific). If you haven't seen it, you should! Get it from sTwo (I couldnt find the link for this clip on Tank SWAT Official Site... when I visited, there was no update... >_< Oh and its 24MB-ish so if you're not on broadband be patient...)

Hmmm... well, a bit weird this one. A dolphin criminal? Hmmmm! Atleast the partners for the Tanks are confirmed: T-31 >> Leona - Anna, T-32>> Shinozaki - Habana, T-33>> Asada - Uni. That's Leona's unit. Difference here is that Uni has taken the place of one-monther Shimizu partnering Asada in T-33.

Ok, so now here's the strange bit. I dont know if this is a correct guess or not, but from sTwo-san's post it seems that he has got Tank SWAT on hand already! Think he reviewed it a bit too... If you're reading this sTwo, is this true? And HOW can I get a copy?? T_T Help~

Has Tank SWAT been released? How will it be marketed? For sure, its some kind of a independent work by Romanov-Higa but I do hope that us fans outside Japan will have a chance to collect this. For now I reserve my comments. From the new clip sTwo posted, the overall feel is still really excited anticipation and it looks to be a stunner! ^_^ Seriously hoping to find out more about this...

This is a double gallery- featuring Vol.1 & Vol.2 of SEGA Prize's Ghost In The Shell Mini Display Figures Series. These little cuties have a special place in my collection as they are the reason why I decided to attempt a complete collection of the Sega GITS figure sets. Previously I collect mainly published works by Shirow Sensei but seeing these Mini Display Figures, it is GET at first sight! ^_^

The Complete Set - Motoko in Uniform (sorry, out of focus shot >_<), Motoko in Cockpit Ver2 & Batou on a Tachi ^_^

The Tachikoma was not featured in the set photos above as it is an exact replica of Vol.1. How to distinguish one series from another? You gotta flip them Tachi's and look at the year manufactured printed on the base: 2004 is Vol.1 & 2005 is Vol.2 ^_^

There are people who collect Mini Display Tachikomas exclusively, to re-create the Tachikoma Forum as seen in the anime ^_^ It is real cool, but no doubt costly to assemble about 6 to 9 Tachikomas because it is rare to find single Tachi's for sale, most of the time they are sold in sets. But its a cool concept nevertheless. I have 2... ^_^;;;

Again, the interchangeable Tachikoma pod! The pods fits both sets:

To summarize: Cute, special and totally adorable. The Sega Prize GITS Mini Display Figures, although small are among my most precious Shirow collections. Totally detailed, it is a sight to behold when you assemble these small armies of Tachikomas, Motokos and Batous together. Personally I do hope Sega continue with this Mini Display Series- hopefully with the full cast of Section 9 in future. Now that would be something! ^_^
