Appleseed Sequel & TV Series News!

Orion update on hold ~ Kudos to sTwo's Shirowledge for the hot breaking news! ^_^

Even Deunan is kinda surprised! ^_^

Apparently, Mainichi News Japan has come up with a report for the Appleseed Movie sequel, as well as a 26-episode TV series produced concurrently for a planned release in Summer 2006. What's even more intriguing is this... this time, apparently instead of the Sori - Shinji Aramaki combo, its going to be John Woo - Shinji Aramaki! Oh wow! Correct me if I understood wrongly. It will be jointly produced by 3 companies mentioned so far:  MICOTT & BASARA, Lion Rock Production and Axis Entertainment.

So it seems that the rumours are true! ^_^ The question now is, whether the Appleseed sequel would be a live action one as reported before.

In relation to the question I raised above, I've found an interesting answer....

ME: Speaking of live-action, I've read that there's discussion of doing a live-action Hollywood remake of Appleseed. What do you think of that and the two proposed anime sequels?
SA: I would be very interested in seeing someone's live-action version of the film. But I wouldn't want to do it. I don't believe I have the desire to do so, yet. As for the sequels, I am already working on the sequel for the next Appleseed. For the sequel I don't plan to continue with the same style. I would like there to be some sort of evolution in style, it won't be the same.

ME: What kind of evolution?
SA: That's a secret. [laughs]

So I guess Live Action is pretty much out of the question for the Appleseed Sequel. Very interesting interview, some very interesting information and comments there. Worth taking a read. ^_^b

This is just a preliminary post to break the news. I'm doing research on this news item at the moment... so far apart from sTwo's sources I can't find anything else yet. Will revise this post again in a bit. :)
